Sri Lanka has two monsoon seasons that affect different coasts. The southwest monsoon (May-September) brings rain to the west and south coasts, while the northeast monsoon (October-January) affects the east coast.
West & South Coast (Colombo, Galle, Mirissa): Best from December to April with dry, sunny weather perfect for beaches and nightlife.
East Coast (Arugam Bay, Trincomalee): Best from May to September for surfing, beach parties, and clear skies.
Hill Country (Kandy, Ella, Nuwara Eliya): Pleasant year-round with temperatures between 15-25°C. Wettest months are October-December.
