1. Overview

friday.lk complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable copyright laws. We respond promptly to valid copyright infringement notices and will remove infringing content when properly notified.

This page explains how to submit a DMCA takedown request if you believe content on friday.lk infringes your copyright.

2. Before You Submit a Takedown Request

Please ensure:

• You own the copyright or are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner

• The content is actually infringing — Ensure the use does not fall under fair use, parody, or other exceptions

• You have the correct URL — Provide the specific friday.lk page containing the infringing content

Note: Submitting a false or fraudulent DMCA notice may result in legal liability. Only submit a notice if you have a good faith belief that the content infringes your copyright.

3. How to Submit a DMCA Takedown Request

Send your takedown request to our designated DMCA agent:

Your DMCA notice must include the following information:

1. Identification of the copyrighted work — Describe the work you believe has been infringed. If multiple works are involved, provide a representative list.

2. Identification of the infringing content — Provide the full URL(s) of the friday.lk page(s) containing the allegedly infringing content (e.g., https://www.friday.lk/events/event-name).

3. Your contact information — Include your full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.

4. Statement of good faith belief — Include this statement: "I have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted material described above is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."

5. Statement of accuracy — Include this statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."

6. Physical or electronic signature — Type your full legal name or attach a scanned signature.

4. What Happens After You Submit

Once we receive a valid DMCA takedown request:

• Within 24-72 hours — We review the request for completeness and validity

• Content removal — If valid, we remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content

• User notification — We notify the user who uploaded the content about the takedown and provide them with a copy of your notice (with your contact information)

• Counter-notification option — The user has the right to submit a counter-notification if they believe the content was removed in error

5. Counter-Notification Process

If you believe content you uploaded was removed in error or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to dmca@friday.lk with:

1. Your contact information (name, address, phone, email)

2. Identification of the removed content and its prior URL

3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed due to mistake or misidentification

4. A statement consenting to jurisdiction in your local court district

5. Your physical or electronic signature

If we receive a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original complainant. If they do not file a court action within 10-14 business days, we may restore the content.

6. Repeat Infringer Policy

friday.lk has a policy of terminating accounts of repeat copyright infringers. Users who repeatedly upload infringing content will have their accounts permanently suspended and may be banned from future use of the platform.

7. Misuse of DMCA Process

DMCA law provides for penalties against anyone who knowingly makes material misrepresentations in a takedown notice or counter-notification. Submitting false claims may result in:

• Legal liability for damages, court costs, and attorney fees

• Criminal penalties for perjury

Only submit a DMCA notice if you genuinely believe your copyright has been infringed.

8. Alternative Dispute Resolution

Before submitting a DMCA notice, consider contacting the user directly through our contact form or reaching out to resolve the issue informally. Many copyright disputes can be resolved without formal legal processes.
